My idea of retail therapy involves a new pair of addidas and an Italian rosé (rosato) that I’ve never drank before in in a big one-liter bottle.
To know me is to know I have a thing for 1L bottles. They make the “normal” 750ml bottle seem so sad. Who wouldn’t want an extra third of a bottle? Give it to me!

So this rosé comes from Lombardy, Milan being the best-known city in the region. As you can see from the photo, it is super-light. Very fresh and clean. If you like pale rosés from Provence, this is right up your alley.
And is there a better BYOB wine for two people? Let us count the ways:
-
Inexpensive. I got it at Dandelion Wine in Greenpoint for 15 bucks.
-
Screwcap. No need to have your evening ruined because you forgot a corkscrew.
-
Food-friendly. What’s more versatile than a dang rosé?
I specifically enjoyed this rosato with tacos from Tortilleria Mexicana Los Hermanos in Bushwick. It’s cash-only, you write your order on a piece of paper and hand it to the cashier. Then stroll into a big open room (above, right) that’s part of the factory where, sometimes, tortilla production happens right next to you. The tables and chairs are a rando hodge-podge. When your order is ready someone comes out with a tray and shouts your name. I say shouts because it gets really lively in there, especially at night. Get the chorizo tacos.
